Best Games of 2007

So, that's it, the end of 2007. This year is exciting for every gamers, lots of great titles hit the marketplace, BioShock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, The Orange Box, and so forth. If you're out of the scene for a while, maybe you would like to refer to the Best-Game-Of-2007 reviews on those gaming websites, such as GameSpot's Best Games of 2007 Year in Review, GameSpy Game of the Year 2007, and IGN Best of 2007. These review entries are well developed, and they also invite readers to participate for voting the best games of the year. It's very interesting to observe the similarity and diversity between the results of editors and of readers.

I didn't play much this year, generally speaking, but I did a major choice, which was to buy my first console ever, the Microsoft's XBOX 360. For almost two decades, I have played PC games exclusively since my father bought us children the first PC, an AT/XT with 8088 CPU. Our first game is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2.0, this is pretty old, and last year Microsoft just released the newest serial product, Microsoft Flight Simulator X! So, what's the reason that I chose to buy a console? Simple, I'm tired to pursue the high-end hardwares for the thirsty demand of gaming, and I have a laptop to process most of daily work now, so I don't see any necessity to buy another PC just for gaming. At least I don't need one right now.

Accordingly, I thought maybe buying a console is better than spending US$2,000, if not more, to establish a PC gaming platform, and there are many titles I want to play on XBOX 360, so I decided to buy it as a small gift for myself to celebrate the finish of GRE subject test. So far I have had a few games, BioShock, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Mass Effect, and so on, I've already exposed half of the list here though. Nevertheless, I want to grant the best games of 2007, for my owned ones, to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Mass Effect. Both games gave me a marvelous first impression, and they keep sucking me in, the great storyline, the realistic graphics and sounds, and the well-developed gaming interface boost gamers' experience to a new frontier. These are the games what I want to play (and what I'm willing to pay for), I hope we can see more great games like them in the coming year.

Happy new year! And happy gaming in 2008!
